MEDITERRANEAN REMODEL
A BAHAMIAN INTERIOR FOR CENTRAL ORANGE COUNTY
This sprawling ranch style home in Southern California was "gasping its last breath" from the 70s, and was in dire need of refreshment! Working closely with the client, Exline Design & Architecture conceived of a scheme that reorganized the floor plan, and moved the front entrance on axis with a new foyer and the main living space beyond. The home owner wanted a fresh new tropical aesthetic, something that was bright and cheerful, but still conveyed a sense of Tommy Bahama "Old World" charm. We added new and beautiful coffered ceilings to the main entry hall, and a series of four custom wood columns that helped transition the more-public spaces in the front of the home to the living quarters near the back. Being a landscape architect, the home owner wanted the surrounding gardens to be the primary focus of the design, and brought plant and nature motifs into the design of the interior spaces.
