Concept model of park plan shows distinctive five–pointed star configuration and 250–room hotel anchor.

A 50 acre park celebrating Portugal's rich heritage and "Golden Age of Discovery"

Literally translated from Chinese, the words “Fu Hua” mean “Rich China” – Located approximately 450 miles southeast of Beijing, the city of Weifang of the Shan Dong Province decided to spearhead its mid–90’s community redevelopment program with a full–scale 20–hectare amusement park project. Exline Design was retained to develop the master plan and to generate an initial conceptual package for the park.

The distinctive guest circulation is fashioned after a five–pointed star, conceived as a strong symbol for the project’s marketing efforts. The five–pointed star plan was well received in that it works in concert with Chinese symbols of government and also the National Communist Party.

The key elements of the project include a 12–hectare (approx. 28 acre) amusement park (as opposed to a “theme park”) with a festive retail complex situated at its entrance. The client requested that the primary elements of the park include the “best” features of Western entertainment parks including a “Main Street” entrance and a fantasy castle at the park’s center hub. Guests enter and exit the park along this "main–street" which offers the traditional retail and food service opportunities. A large Victorian train–station visually announces the park’s main gate, with second–level service to the train ride that travels around the perimeter of the project’s first phase. The remaining attractions–mix for the park was programmed and developed by Exline Design, and includes 25 off–the–shelf rides and one custom dark–ride experience.

Other uses designed as a part of the overall master plan include a 250–room luxury hotel providing a secondary entrance to the park. A 7,500 square meter indoor–recreation center and a 3,500 square meter conference center flank the hotel anchor. The development also includes a full–scale seasonal water park, a 54–hole miniature golf course, and additional programmed area for the park’s future expansion.
