Grand StairsIn working on the MILNE RESIDENTIAL REMODEL, EXLINE worked closely with the owner/client to completely revamp a very outdated residential interior. This 1970's Southern California home was stripped to the studs and redesigned. Opening the existing kitchen to the adjacent family room was the focal point of the design. Integrating level changes with a new custom bar skewed from the orthogonal grid brought a contemporary flair to a previously tired space.

Reorganizing the grand stair and adding custom millwork to the entry hall brought an updated welcome-feeling to the home's first impression. Custom wood work detailing was considered carefully to maintain an expression in-keeping with the traditional and somewhat colonial expression of the home's existing exterior.

The master bedroom, master bath, and spacious dressing room were also focal points of the design. Again custom dark mahogany built-ins brought a rich and varied elegance to the master suite. Reorganizing the master's floor plan brought a much-needed elegance to the interior's expression and took full advantage of the home's existing window placement. Stone finishes throughout the bath updated the suite to a new contemporary yet warm feeling.

Reformed ceilings, unique millwork, and custom cabinetry all worked in concert with first-class finishes primarily selected by the owner. The overall effect brought this impressive home to a current and revitalized sense of spacious and gracious living.
